Welcome to the FRA Supervisor "Signs & Symptoms" Video Training    This video series has been designed to inform supervisors of DOT-covered employees of their role in your company's drug and alcohol testing program.  As required by Department of Transportation regulations found in 49 CFR Part 40 and Part 129, they will learn how to make a determination that an employee could be impaired and the course of action to take after that determination is made.  They will also learn what events constitute an accident under FRA regulations and who should be tested once they determine that the event meets the definition of an accident.   This course is specifically designed for employers who must comply with DOT and FRA drug and alcohol testing requirements for either hours of service employees or maintenance of way employees.  Read more

This program is intended to inform designated transit personnel on the dos and don’ts, why's and how's in making fair and reliable reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing referrals of covered employees performing safety-sensitive job functions.  Furthermore, this program is intended for front line supervisors responsible for making reasonable suspicion drug/alcohol testing referrals of employees who perform safety-sensitive job functions for transit agencies that receive federal funding under Part 655 of Title 49 of the U.S. Code.  Read more

This program is intended to inform designated PHMSA regulated personnel on the dos and don’ts, why's and how's in making fair and reliable reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing referrals of covered employees performing safety-sensitive job functions under parts 192, 13, or 195 of this chapter. Anyone performing US Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated breath alcohol testing must be trained as a Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT), and individuals performing non-DOT regulated testing are encouraged to do the same. This course follows the training curriculum as prescribed by the Department of Transportation (DOT), the procedural requirements of alcohol testing as stated in the (49CFR part 40 [Federal register Vol. 59, NO. 31, 2/15/1994, pkg. 7340-7366]) and amendments to the rules. Device certifications available: Lifeloc Phoenix 6.0, Lifeloc EV 30, Intoximeter Alco Sensor IV-RBT IV, Alco Sensor IV with Memory, Alco Sensor VXL. For complete BAT 'trainer' certification, the student is required to demonstrate proficiency in administering an alcohol test using their specific EBT instrument as well as training on that specific device using the EBT manufacturer's training manual*. (*This portion of the training is delivered live with a Certified trainer.) This document completes Phase 1 (of 3) only for a BAT Certification.  Phases 2 and 3 consist of Manufacturer Specific device "train the trainer" training and Mock proficiency demonstration.   Please provide this online completion certificate to your instructor when prompted.  Read more
