Anyone performing US Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated breath alcohol testing must be trained as a Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT), and individuals performing non-DOT regulated testing are encouraged to do the same. This course follows the training curriculum as prescribed by the Department of Transportation (DOT), the procedural requirements of alcohol testing as stated in the (49CFR part 40 [Federal register Vol. 59, NO. 31, 2/15/1994, pkg. 7340-7366]) and amendments to the rules. Device certifications available: Lifeloc Phoenix 6.0, Lifeloc EV 30, Intoximeter Alco Sensor IV-RBT IV, Alco Sensor IV with Memory, Alco Sensor VXL. For complete BAT certification the student is required to demonstrate proficiency in administering an alcohol test using their specific EBT instrument. The student must perform a minimum of 7 mock tests on a live subject using their EBT instrument. These mock tests must be monitored by a certified BAT instructor. This portion of the training is not included in this course. This document completes Phase 1 (of 3) only for a BAT Certification.  Phases 2 and 3 consist of Manufacturer Specific device training and Mock proficiency demonstration. Welcome to the CPCT - Certified Professional Collector "Trainer" Course This course will provide collection personnel with the training to become proficient in Trainers for DOT and non-federal urine specimen collections for drug testing in the workplace. To become qualified as a Trainer, you must be knowledgeable about Part 40 regulations, and DOT agency regulations applicable to the employers for whom you will perform collections, and you must keep current on any changes to these materials. You must also (1) successfully complete a qualification training program (this video series) and (2) pass a monitored proficiency demonstration, as required by DOT regulations [See 49 CFR Part 40.33 (b-c), effective August 1, 2001]. This is a comprehensive course designed to prepare the DER to perform his or her duties properly, as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT). The course offers an in-depth, plain-English study of the Federal regulations, 49 CFR Part 40 for drug and alcohol testing, from the perspective of the DER.  A Designated Employer Representative (DER) receives test results and other communication for the employers regarding the testing process. Further, the DER is an employee authorized by the employer to take immediate action to remove any employee from safety sensitive duties and make decisions regarding further testing and evaluation processes. Every organization falling under the US Department of Transportation regulations that employs safety sensitive employees must have at least one qualified DER. In order to become a qualified DER, an individual must have detailed knowledge of their responsibilities as outlined in 49CFR Part 40, as well as those specific to the mode(s) they are operating within.
